Frequently Asked Questions		When do you race during the week. We race on Thursday evenings weekly. Early in the season the race starts at 6:15. Later in the season we start at 6:30. Where on Lake Conroe does the race start. The weekly races start at the Light House at mid-lake. What sizes of boats are in your fleet? Our fleet consists of Catalina 22's, 25's, and 30's. O'day 25's. Ultimate 20's and 100's, Hunter 270, Tarton 30, S-2 7.9's, Soverel 26's and a Melges 24. How long do the weekly races take. With fair winds the 25 foot and above class boats make one lap around the course which takes about 1 hour. The faster racers make 2 laps and take about 1 hour as well. Do you rent sailboats to the general public or members. No, we do not rent boats but do offer rides on request. Can I participate in the races as a crew member. Yes, we encourage current members or possible new members to participate in our races as crew members to gain experience as well as have fun. Do you have any other activities other than sailing. Members  While on a bareboat charter last year in the BVI, we had the chance to meet a singer, song writer from Beaumont Texas that has left Texas for the adventure of sailing all over the world. He has sailed Hawaii, Australia , and now lives in St. Thomas VI. I had heard of him and his boatsong music from Doug Dobson and when I saw he was playing in a club on St Thomas we went to hear him play. His music is about the sailing life and his experience at sea and on the islands and people's dreams of the sailor life. As he was setting up for the show, I ask him if he knew where Cut & Shoot Texas was and he ended up spending the evening at our table swapping stories between his sets.    Of course I talked about our sailing club on Lake Conroe and the weekly racing on Thursday evening. I told him about my boat and its name and the crew's assigned job was to yell Blew Byou Baby as we passed them by, except it doesn't happen very often. We don't blow by anybody! Of course it is my first mate's fault, never the skipper. My wife only gave the wind gods a splash of champagne and a full glass for herself. She got smashed and the gods got mad, so we can not stay in the favor of the wind. Last week for my birthday my daughter and son hooked up with Eric Stone and he sent me a song he wrote titled “Blew Byou” which he has also sent the lyrics in a frame with his autograph. He has also recorded it in Nashville . I don’t expect it to be a number 1 hit here in Houston but who knows it may be a top ten hit on Scuba Radio in the Virgin Islands . Now Blew Byou not only has her own line of clothing for her crew, her own flag to fly but now her own song to sing as the wind blows through her rigging.   Blew Byou     Brad is a racer, a Texas wind chaser and he likes to race his sailboat to win His Catalina couldn’t be sweeter but a champagne christening did him in So he’ll raise his main and set his sails and do his best to blow right by you But the irony, is so plain to see on his stern is painted “Blew Byou” Blew Byou, Blew Byou, Hear the wind in the rigging singing the name Blew Byou, Blew Byou,  If you’re out on the water, you’re so way ahead of the game, you’ve already won anyway.   Out on Lake Conroe , kickin’ it solo, can make you think you’re out on the sea So tighten your sheets now and stand up on the bow, you’re out there and you’re living the dream So fly your flag high on the mast and be proud of what you can do And if you don’t win, you can try again, cause’ the name is Blew Byou.   Chorus Bridge -  Head out on the water and always be proud Say the name with pride and scream it out loud Chorus    Eric Stone © 2011 Boatsongs Music All Rights Reserved    When we get back to the islands this next year, we will have to see where Eric is playing and go see his show.
